I was never much of a yeller. I practiced Positive Discipline with my kids practically from birth. It was pretty smooth sailing… until it wasn’t.
I had tools. I had strategies. I “knew better.” But still, when my kids pushed my buttons, everything flew out the window. I just lost it. Then I felt horrible.
The thing is, all the conscious, respectful, mindful parenting strategies in the world can’t help us if we can’t stay calm enough to use them. And if we don’t use the messages our anger gives us, we’re bound to keep repeating the same destructive cycles over and over.
